Education and Ethics

I wholeheartedly agree with Miranda Fricker (2007) on her thoughts about epistemic injustice and am grateful to her for having turned the tables on the habitual talk of all kinds of justices that rarely arrive without legal battles and years of obfuscation in many cases. Ethics is about recognising, acknowledging and methodically wanting to eradicate so-called unintended consequences that leave already vulnerable people behind and struggling on their own. Ethics, for me, is the desire to want to be part of theories and practices predicated on whole-systems thinking and arriving at solutions that incorporate intelligent actions, be that in preschools, in schools, in other organisational settings, in refugee camps or in institutions of governmental power.

Claudia Gillberg

Senior Research Associate at JU, invited Fellow at Carnegie Institute of Education, Leeds Beckett, UK. I quite literally embody participation because I am disabled and know what lived exclusion feels like and its horrific unintended consequences when the social fabric is torn to shreds. I am interested in making sense and doing meaningful work in the Education sector. There are several existential threats to be dealing with and theoretical and practical knowledge, natural and social sciences, all thinking folks must get together in a huge effort to stem the tide of destruction. It can be done.
I am, among many other things, particularly passionate about languages and creatively, flexibly collaborating towards truly sustainable future scenarios. I am qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language and have some experience in tutoring traumatised refugees.
